إن كلية الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية بالجامعة الأفروآسيوية المفتوحة تتمنى للطلبة الوافدين عليها كل التوفيق والنجاح. وهي بالمناسبة كلية حديثة التأسيس تعمل على ضمان تعليم رفيع المستوى لطلبتها، هدفها بالدرجة الأولى تكوين جيل منتج، نافع ومؤهل للإبداع والمبادرة، وقادر على رفع تحديات مجتمع المعرفة والتواصل والتكنولوجيا المتطورة باستمرار، في أفق تحسين الأداء وتحقيق مردودية تكون في مستوى الرهانات المجتمعية، التي تفرض تضافر الجهود من أجل بلوغ الأهداف. لتحقيق ذلك، كل مكونات الكلية من أساتذة وطاقم إداري، جندت كل الطاقات والإمكانيات لتلبية حاجيات تطوير الأداء البيداغوجي للكلية والرقي بتدبيرها الإداري، من أجل الاستجابة لانتظارات الطلبة المسجلين بها، والرفع من أهليتها العلمية والأكاديمية عبر تطوير البحث العلمي والابتكار، بوصفهما قاطرة للتنمية الاقتصادية. وفي إطار تحسين العرض البيداغوجي سنصاحب العمل بالكلية بحكامة تستدعي دعم المنطلقات وتطويرها، عبر تصحيح اختلالاتها في أفق تطوير التكوينات، وتحسين مردودية الأداء البيداغوجي لمختلف المسالك التي ستنطلق بها، والعمل على تقدمها وتنويعها بما يتلاءم مع الحاجيات المتجددة لسوق الشغل الإقليمية والدولية. ونتمنى لهذه الكلية الحديثة النجاح والتوفيق.

About the Department

The English Language Department of Afro Asia Open University aims to equip undergraduates with different skills and competencies to prepare them for varied career opportunities. It offers a multidisciplinary program that is taught over eight semesters.

Objectives of the English Language Program

 
  1-The acquisition of an academic knowledge of the English language (written and oral) as it is used in English-speaking societies.
  2-The mastery of a diversified knowledge relating to the British, American, African, and Asian literatures and cultures, with special emphasis on   intercultural communication between Africa and Asia.
  3-The acquisition of a scientific method of study, research and work.

Objectives of the English Language Program

1-The acquisition of an academic knowledge of the English language (written and oral) as it is used in English-speaking societies.
  2-The mastery of a diversified knowledge relating to the British, American, African, and Asian literatures and cultures, with special emphasis on   intercultural communication between Africa and Asia.
  3-The acquisition of a scientific method of study, research and work.
 
  4-The study of the English language and its linguistic structures from different modern linguistic perspectives.
  5-The study of literature, culture and civilization through modern theoretical and critical perspectives, appealing to contemporary critical theories prevalent in the most outsanding universities.
  6-The development of critical and rational skills to allow students to create an independent vision of their socio-political environment and to be able to contextualize any discourse in a diversified and globalized intercultural context.
  7-The deepening of the learning of the Arabic/French language to initiate students to translation and professional interpreting.
  8-The Development of students’ soft skills to prepare them for future employment.
  9-The improvement of  students’ knowledge of Turkish as a tool for communication and work.
  10-The perfection of the use of computer tools and multimedia resources essential for research.

Career Opportunities

The program prepares the laureates for post-graduate education and/or the job market in the following fields:
teaching
research
translating/interpreting
diplomacy
tourism
entrepreneurship
marketing
social work
and other jobs requiring English speaking or diversified linguistic and cultural skills.

General Description of Semesters

The first five semesters provide students with the general knowledge of the functioning of the English language system and language skills to acquire proficiency in writing and communication tools in English. It also exposes students to various cultures through American, British, African, and Asian literatures and civilizations. Arabic, French and Turkish are also taught in these semesters.
